Bangkok July 20, 2021 – Saint-Gobain Thailand by Weber (under the Gecko trademark) and Gyproc conducted CSR campaign “Saint Gobain We Care to fight Covid-19” to donate more than 4,000 food boxes and survival bags to 10 labour camps in Bangkok affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The objective of this campaign is to help alleviate the difficulties of affected workers and building contractors during the closure of construction sites. Saint-Gobain Thailand also donated 100 pieces of S-Shield antiviral glass to Siriraj Hospital to help control the virus in the hospital area and ensure safety of all medical workers.
Siwaraya Sritirat, Chief Operating Officer of Saint-Gobain Thailand, said that “The latest wave of Covid-19 has caused the number of virus cases to rise dramatically every day, and the government’s decision to order the closure of construction workers’ camps for 1 month to contain the spread of Covid-19 inevitably has a serious impact on workers. Weber and Gyproc are aware of the difficulties those workers are facing, so we have our team survey the workers’ camps in Bangkok in order to supply food and survival bags to affected workers. We also order food boxes from the neighborhood restaurants to distribute income to food vendors who struggle to make ends meet during the virus pandemic.”
Siwaraya Sritirat also added that “In addition, since the company feels concern for the safety of medical professions, Saint-Gobain Group in Thailand donate 100 sets of Saint-Gobain’s S-Shield tempered protecting glass to Siriraj Hospital to prevent front-line medical professions from the Covid-19. This mission aligns with Saint-Gobain’s vision “Making the World a Better Home” that we do not take care just only the people living in our home but also others who live around us. For this reason, Saint-Gobain will continue to provide helps in order for Thai people to get through the ongoing crisis together with us.”
Supa Rojjanasungworn, the owner of curry and rice shop at Vipawadee road, said that “sales have dropped significantly following the third wave of Covid-19, and the situation is getting worse after the government’s lockdown measure. As a vendor, I just hope that the lockdown measure will help lower the virus cases, and the situation will return to normal as soon as possible. Thank you to Saint-Gobain Thailand for organizing this campaign to help distribute income to us.”
