- 5G traffic surged around 40% after the upgrade
- Chinese tourists rank No.1 among foreign visitors to Red Lotus Sea

February 12, 2026 – True Corporation is strengthening Thailand’s digital infrastructure at key tourism destinations by enhancing 5G network performance at Udon Thani’s Red Lotus Sea (Kumphawapi district, Udon Thani province) to support the continued rise in tourism demand. The upgrade follows strong travel momentum after the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) launched its latest campaign featuring Lalisa “Lisa” Manobal as the official Amazing Thailand Ambassador under the “Feel All the Feelings” concept. The campaign highlighted Red Lotus Sea as a major seasonal destination during the peak lotus-bloom period from December to February, driving widespread interest among both Thai and international visitors.
The growing popularity of Red Lotus Sea among Thai tourists, foreign visitors and Lisa’s fan community reflects today’s digital travel behavior, where visitors rely heavily on mobile connectivity to take photos and videos, share content, live stream, use map navigation apps and access services in real time. As a result, mobile data usage has continued to increase. True Corporation has therefore prioritized strengthening 5G performance in the area to support a better tourism experience, while contributing to local economic activity and sustainable tourism in Thailand.

Strengthening 5G 2600 MHz Across Red Lotus Sea to Support Tourism
True Corporation reported mobility data showing that the top five nationalities of foreign visitors to the Red Lotus Sea were from China, the Netherlands, Australia, Japan and Laos. Overall mobile internet usage by international tourists increased by more than 30%. 5G traffic also surged by around 40% following the network upgrade at the Red Lotus Sea.
Mr. Khurrum Ashfaque, Chief Network Officer of True Corporation Public Company Limited, said, “We have enhanced 5G coverage on the 2600 MHz band across all key areas of Red Lotus Sea, including Ban Diam Pier (the main pier), Ban Chaelae Pier, Ban Don Khong Pier and Ban Chiang Wae Pier. The upgrade strengthens both coverage and 5G speed to support high demand during the tourism peak season among Thai and foreign visitors. The enhanced coverage also extends to major photo check-in highlights and locations featured in TAT’s campaign.”

Network Tests Show True’s 5G Speeds Increase More Than 9x
Based on 5G/4G network tests comparing performance before and after the upgrade during Jan. 31 – Feb. 1, 2026, True Corporation reported that its 5G speeds improved significantly across all key points at Red Lotus Sea. In some locations, signal performance increased by more than nine times, while coverage became more consistent across all piers and major photo spots, including:
- A key Red Lotus Sea photo spot (most popular check-in point): 5G speed increased 9.5x
- Ban Diam Pier (main pier): 5G speed increased 4x
- Ban Chaelae Pier: 5G speed increased 5.6x
- Don Luang Islet, located in the heart of the Red Lotus Sea and featured as a filming location for the drama Pha Daeng Nang Ai: 5G speed increased more than 5x
Overall results also indicate that following the upgrade, True’s 5G network now provides broader and more continuous coverage across Red Lotus Sea, supporting tourist usage more effectively than before.

Supporting Digital Tourism Lifestyles: Seamless Sharing, Live Streaming and Video Calls
True Corporation noted that the 5G enhancement supports the shift toward fully digital travel lifestyles, particularly for high-speed and stable connectivity use cases such as:
- Uploading high-resolution photos and videos
- Real-time live streaming
- Video calling
- Using navigation and tourism service applications
The strengthened network also helps the destination manage high visitor volumes during peak periods more efficiently, while supporting tourism and local economic activity through seamless online connectivity.

True Corporation reaffirmed its commitment to continuous network development to enhance the experience for TrueMove H and dtac customers nationwide. The company continues to optimize spectrum across low-, mid- and high-band frequencies to strengthen Thailand’s digital infrastructure, expand coverage and improve signal quality across urban areas, high-rise buildings, communities, regional provinces and emerging tourism destinations. True also remains committed to supporting inclusive access to digital services, strengthening Thailand’s long-term digital infrastructure, and contributing to the growth of the country’s digital economy.
