Google Selects 3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ Processors to Launch First Tau VM Instance

T2D is exclusively powered by 3rd Gen AMD EPYC™ processors, taking advantage of the high-performance “Zen 3” cores. The instances offer 56% higher absolute performance and 42% higher price-performance (est. SPECrate2017_int_base) compared to general-purpose VMs from any of the leading public cloud vendors. The T2D instances are perfect for compute-heavy, business applications like web servers, containerized microservices, data processing, large-scale Java applications and more.

At Google’s blog, you can read more from Twitter and Snap about how their initial testing of T2D for specific scale-out workloads, provided double digit performance improvement compared to what they are using now.

For more information, you can find a press release below and on the AMD press page – you can also visit the Google press release and blog to learn more information about Google Cloud customers and partners who have adopted the new T2D instances.
